Allergens

Create and manage allergens for your menu items so customers know exactly what's in their food.

Allergens help you label menu items with common food sensitivities. When customers browse your menu, they can see which allergens are present in each dish — keeping them informed and your restaurant compliant.

What Are Allergens?

Allergens are tags you create at the chain level and assign to individual menu items. Each allergen has a name and an icon so customers can quickly identify them. Common examples include Gluten, Dairy, Peanuts, Shellfish, and Eggs.

Because allergens are chain-level, every location in your chain shares the same set of allergens.

The 14 Major Allergens

Most food safety regulations recognize these 14 major allergens:

  1. Gluten — Found in wheat, barley, rye, and oats
  2. Dairy — Milk and milk-based products
  3. Eggs — Eggs and egg-derived ingredients
  4. Fish — All species of fish
  5. Shellfish — Crustaceans like shrimp, crab, and lobster
  6. Tree Nuts — Almonds, cashews, walnuts, pecans, etc.
  7. Peanuts — Peanuts and peanut-derived products
  8. Soy — Soybeans and soy-derived products
  9. Sesame — Sesame seeds and sesame oil
  10. Sulfites — Often found in wine, dried fruits, and preservatives
  11. Mustard — Mustard seeds, powder, and prepared mustard
  12. Celery — Celery stalks, leaves, seeds, and celeriac
  13. Lupin — Lupin seeds and lupin flour
  14. Mollusks — Clams, mussels, oysters, squid, and snails

You are not limited to these — you can create any allergen that makes sense for your menu.
