Suggested Items
Set up cross-sell and upsell rules to recommend items to customers.
Suggested Items let you create rules that recommend additional items to customers during the ordering process, helping increase average order value through cross-selling and upselling.
How Rules Work
Each rule defines a trigger and a set of suggested items. When a customer adds a trigger item or category to their cart, the suggested items are shown as recommendations.
Creating a Rule
- Navigate to a menu's Suggested Items tab
- Click Create Rule
- Fill in the rule details:
- Name — Internal label for the rule
- Heading — The text customers see above the suggestions (e.g., "You might also like")
- Status — Active or Disabled
- Priority — Controls which rule takes precedence when multiple rules match
Trigger
Choose what triggers the suggestion:
- Item-based — Suggestions appear when specific items are added to the cart
- Category-based — Suggestions appear when any item from specific categories is added
Suggested Items
Select the items to recommend when the trigger fires. Set a max suggestions limit (1–10) to control how many items are shown at once.
Display Context
Choose where suggestions appear:
- In Cart — Shown in the shopping cart
- In Item Modal — Shown when viewing an item's detail page
Schedule
Optionally restrict when the rule is active:
- Active Days — Limit to specific days of the week
- Active Hours — Limit to specific time windows
When multiple rules match, the rule with the highest priority number takes precedence.
